2023 Rifle Season Recap
I watch the snow fall heavy a warm mocha in my hand, the room I occupy is still, and quiet, just like the mountain. As the guides pull out of the driveway one by one, many emotions arise. The past five weeks have flown by with cold days, many pack-outs, clients coming and going, and good conversations around a fire on some mountain side. Memories have been made, that will never be forgotten. Lives have been changed, not only with our faithful clients, but among us guides, the cooks, with housekeeping, we all have shared something so incredibly special. My heart is full as my cup of gratitude spills over into the fluffy white snow. My body is tired, but my mind is so very clear. As this next chapter arises so does the excitement within. In today’s society we are expected to follow a step-by-step system, to the big changes in our life, and it holds many back. It holds them back from chasing their purest dreams, and to listening to that intention within them. It’s a language of its own and I don’t understand it. What I do understand is the feelings I hold within the deepest parts of me. Those feelings, I choose them, and I listen. When I left Colorado behind 6 weeks ago that intention spoke to me as I drove up and over many mountains to get here. This feeling that life was about to change. Clicking my seatbelt around my waist, I drove into the horizon of opportunity. I knew Montana would make or break the relationship I was in at the time, and sure enough it didn’t take long, and it broke. A weight was lifted within me, and my heart opened itself to this new chapter. With each week as I guided clients, they brought new perspective to my sudden changes in life and as we conquered mountains and the cold temps, we connected on a level unlike any other. We laughed, we cried, we harvested and yes, we even failed and each day we woke early to do it all over again. Among the chaos of it all I found love with a man I always dreamt of finding. His heart is made of gold and his smile is that of a warm sunset glow. When he smiles at me, I know I have found my home. Upper Canyon Outfitters has changed my life, and I am so happy I have found this new family. Donna also known as “BBE”, Best Boss Ever, she has shown me that a woman is just as capable of running a successful business in a male dominated industry. Her heart too is made of gold.
This quiet room I occupy no longer feels quiet and lonely as the memories warm the room and bring a smile to my face.
